MISSION STATEMENT

 

The mission of the Winchendon Police Department is to protect and serve the residents and visitors of our community.  We will strive to enhance the quality of life in our community by working cooperatively and in partnership with the public.  To this end, we will work within the framework of the Constitution and Ordinances of the Town of Winchendon.  We will enforce the laws, preserve the peace & tranquility, protect life & property and provide a safe environment for all of our citizens through fair and impartial enforcement.  We will strive to be a highly regarded professional organization and respect the rights and dignity of all individuals. This mission will be met by using community policing techniques and the following values:  respect, integrity, accountability, honesty, fairness, empathy, and most of all, having an open door policy.  

 

CHIEF'S MESSAGE

 

The Winchendon Police Department is comprised of thirteen full time officers and four part time officers.  The Police Department is dispatched by Winchendon Dispatch which is located at 15 Pleasant Street in Winchendon.  The Town of Winchendon is governed by a Town Manager, Board of Selectmen and Town Charter.  The town was settled in 1752 and was incorporated in 1764.  The population is approximately 10500 people.  The police department covers 42 square miles, 135 road miles some of which is state highway. 

I have been police chief since October, 2006.  As a police department we have joined the 21st century.  We have completely computerized the department, cruisers and updated the departments equipment.  With the communities support, we are striving as a department to fulfill our mission.
